The site of the Maya Guesthouse was not chosen by chance. This unique hotel owes its name to its stunning location near the Maya Mountain. The vastness of this spectacular mountain scenery with views on the Mont Noble and the Rhone Valley can transport you into and beyond your dreams. From our bed and breakfast in Valais you have a unique view on the Alps and the village of Nax.
This bed and breakfast was entirely built with straw bales and other natural materials. The straw bale walls were covered with clay at the inside and plaster at the outside. The roof is made with wood shingles.
The straw is efficiant insulator. The energy input is very small, even minimal, allowing this type of construction to consume very little heating. To heat water, the hotel Maya Guesthouse recovers heat from wood stove in winter and operates solar energy in summer.
Located in the heights of the traditional village of Nax Mont-Noble at the entrance of the Val d'Hérens, this little bijou of a guesthouse reveals a charming setting where nature is preserved in all its grandeur. This bed and breakfast with its eight guestrooms is surrounded by fields and meadows. With eight bedrooms, the Maya Guesthouse is much more than a hotel. Our project is a true commitment to sustainable tourism.
This is the first hotel built entirely with straw bales. All materials used are natural such as wood, stone, straw, clay and glass. We recover the excess heat from our wood stove to heat our water in winter and use solar energy in the summer.
Our menu and dishes are created around local and seasonal products as well as fruit and vegetables from our own garden.
It is our commitment to help you discover and appreciate the values of respect between man and nature. The Maya Guesthouse is just the place to experience this.
